I’m So Ready For Fall!

Well Hello Fall, thanks for stopping by. Come on in and hang out for a while.

I love this time of year, the cooler weather heading our way, the soon to be Fall colors, harvest festivals, corn mazes, visits to local apple orchards, hunting seasons, and for sure a whole new approach toward the garden. It’s time to make sure you have all those late season fall crops in the ground and start cleaning out and prepping those unused garden beds. The kitchen looks a lot different this time of the year as well, no doubt a lot of canning, dehydrating, blanching and freezing has already been happening but now we are heading down the final stretch before the finish line and there is still a lot to do, so things are looking really busy. I guess I say all this to say, I hope you have a productive and enjoyable fall season. There is much to do but don’t forget to enjoy this time of year, spend time outdoors having fun and spend time with friends and family.

Another Great Podcast

ssl-reduced

You know me, I love to make podcasts and I love to listen to podcasts and I’m always sharing new great podcasts with you, well I think you’re going to really enjoy this new one that just started up. This great new podcast is called The Self-Sufficient Life and it’s hosted by Tim Young. This podcast tells the stories of innovative modern homesteaders who earn money through online marketing, podcasting, YouTube channels, authoring, selling online courses, blogging and other “non-traditional” ways. Tim is a great storyteller and the production value of this podcast is amazing, I think you’re really going to enjoy this one.

What’s New With The Modern Homesteading Podcast

The other day a listener to the podcast and reader of the blog suggested I set up a way for folks to support us and help with the costs of the blog and production of the podcast. Those of you who know me best probably know It’s hard for me to take money from people unless I feel like you’re getting extreme value. I will always keep my main content free because my mission of spreading the message of “Homesteading Today For A Better Tomorrow” is bigger than any profit I could earn through my efforts.

That being said though, there is a significant cost to all this and I’m not exactly rolling in the dough. So I set up a way for you to support what we are doing here, It’s called Patreon and you can pledge to support us with as little as $1.00 a month, However because I believe in giving extra value when I can, if you can help support us with $5.00 or more per month you will get access to 2 bonus podcast episodes per month starting in October and occasional PDF documents packed full of helpful homesteading information and an occasional exclusive video. You can go here to support us in our work  http://smalltownhomestead.com/support and We Thank You!
