Announcements and Recommendations

I decided to take a break for a couple weeks during the holiday season from the regular podcast episodes but I did want to tell you a few things and leave you with some recommendations.

Announcements

The first thing I wanted to tell you was exciting for us as we welcomed a new addition to our family on December 21. Our second daughter, Heather, blessed us with a granddaughter, Rosalyn Marie. She is already an amazing and beautiful little girl and I really look forward to seeing her grow up and handing down a homesteading legacy to her.

Second, I wanted to thank everyone for a wonderful year of podcasting. We experienced a lot of growth in both listeners and at our Facebook Group, The Homestead Front Porch. I also had the privilege of interviewing some great guests who are mostly just homesteaders who listen to the show.

Third, I wanted to share with you our big plan going forward. Not much will change with our regular podcast episodes other than it will get better but I have been working hard building a membership area for those die hard listeners who love what we do and want to help us continue the work and in return get more of what we do. If you have ever thought “you know if Harold would give us another episode a week I would buy him a couple cups a coffee a month” well now is your chance.

In about a month I will be launching our Membership Area which is called “The Homestead Forum” where for $29 a year or $2.99 a month you will get an extra podcast episode per week and lots of great videos as well as a weekly live video with a chat room for interaction as we discuss some topics. I am also working with some companies to get members some discounts for a few homesteading products.

By joining this membership you will be supporting the podcast and helping me to continue to grow and make things even better. This membership program will enable us to update and purchase a better computer and podcasting equipment, purchase some video equipment, help us pay for website and media hosting and whatever other software we might need to make The Modern Homesteading Podcast all that it can be. I will be talking more about this in the weeks to come and will let you know when it is open to join.

Recommendations

If your really wanting to listen to a podcast episode this week let me suggest a couple you might want to go back and listen to.

A great episode to listen to this time of the year to help you plan out next years garden and perhaps give you a little inspiration is Episode 49 “Planning Your Spring Garden”  http://smalltownhomestead.com/49

Another episode you might consider listening to is one of my favorites as it came after the birth of my grandson back in February. Episode 57 “Passing On A Homesteading Legacy and Getting Started Homesteading Without Land”  http://smalltownhomestead.com/57

I also wanted to recommend a resource I came across that might help you set some goals for the New Year, it’s the Live Your Legend Goal Setting and Action Workbook – A free 26 page workbook to help you evaluate and set goals for the next year.
